A Green Node: Showroom of Real Estate

Bringing Nature Inside and Reducing Carbon Footprint

The Aesthetic of Space Design Co., Ltd., led by designers Peng-Hsu Chen and Wen-Cheng Shao, has created a remarkable showroom for real estate that stands out from the crowd. Named "A Green Node," this design brings nature inside and reduces carbon footprint, making it a true oasis in the heart of Taipei city, Taiwan.

The inspiration for this design came from the site's proximity to Daan Park, considered the Central Park of Taipei. To reflect the natural surroundings, the showroom is designed with a central axis defined by a large window system at the front. This axis extends through a staircase and ends with an open-air courtyard. Inside the courtyard, a specially planted huge tree becomes the focal point, creating a scene of nature.

One of the unique features of this design is the raised floor, which allows for parking on the first floor and connects to the courtyard. This design choice creates a chimney effect, effectively carrying out heat from vehicles and reducing the carbon footprint. Additionally, the main axis is adorned with large glass panel windows, allowing natural light to flood the showroom and creating a bright and inviting space.

Stepping into the showroom, visitors are greeted by air plants (Tillandsia) hanging down from the high ceiling glass top. These plants not only add a touch of green but also serve as vertical sculptures, resembling a chandelier that softens the space. Furthermore, a ground cover carpet is planted underneath the staircase, creating a continuous green corridor from the outside lawn to the tree in the courtyard.

The design team faced several challenges in creating this two-story tall building. With limited window openings on both wings to block the western exposure and busy street, they had to find innovative ways to bring in natural light and create a connection with nature. The solution was the central axis with large glass panel windows and the courtyard with the focal tree, which successfully brings the outside inside.

Completed in 2018, this showroom stands as a testament to the Aesthetic of Space Design Co., Ltd.'s commitment to creating unique and environmentally conscious spaces. By bringing nature inside and reducing carbon footprint, "A Green Node" has become a green oasis in the heart of Taipei's concrete jungle.

This remarkable design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2019. This award is bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness.
